Who we can help

We may be able to arrange for short-term, temporary accommodation with one of our volunteer hosts if you:

  • have refugee status
  • have leave to remain
  • are actively engaged in the asylum process, or
  • are hoping to come to the UK under the Homes for Ukraine sponsorship scheme.

All guests should read our Information for guests before applying to us for hosting.

How to apply

Referral partners

Most guests going through the asylum process are referred to us by their case workers or other organisations who are supporting them.

If you would like to refer a guest, please read our Referrer application guide and then fill in our application form at the end of the guidance.

Apply directly

You can apply directly to us if you have refugee status in the UK. You will also need to have a good level of English, and a plan for where you will go once your hosting ends.

If this describes you, please read our Guest application guide and then fill in the application form at the end of the guidance.

Supporting newly recognised refugees

If you are supporting someone who has recently received a positive decision on their asylum claim, find out how you can support them to access our help

Ukrainians outside the UK

As part of the government’s Homes for Ukraine programme, we are also able to accept self-referrals from Ukrainians currently outside the UK. Please read our Information sheet on How we can support Ukrainian guests, alongside our Guest application guidance.

“The family that hosted me was so wonderful, from the first day they gave me a very warm welcome, saying in my mother tongue, ‘Welcome to our home it’s your home’ with a wide smile.”
