It’s a winter day in Wallasey and two men are sat at a large wooden table, catching up over a cup of coffee.
Just outside the window of the rather grand double fronted house lies Wirral’s Central Park. Today it offers up a charming wintery scene, with the crisp overnight snow still glistening in the fresh January sun.
The two men at the coffee table come from very different worlds but have been brought together through a combination of danger, kindness and ultimately, happenstance.
Originally from Belgium, the couple arrived in the United Kingdom in 2013 and settled into this impressive home the following year.
In recent years, the couple have felt more and more concern for the plight of asylum seekers and refugees who are escaping persecution, war and famine in some of the world’s poorest and most dangerous countries.
